It took me 23 years, but I finally learned an important lesson about girls: when they come to you with problems, a solution is the last thing they want...

It took me a while to learn this but I'm glad I finally did! (No, nothing in particular triggered this. I was just thinking one day.)

Handi probably just read this and shook her head thinking, "No, you haven't learned this." No, I really have. It will just take me 23 more years to apply my findings.

A few days ago I went to buy food for Morgan. I always buy it from Petco, but since the price always fluctuates around $45-$60 I never know exactly how much I'll end up paying. That day I also bought a small bag of treats and a magazine, whose price I read as $1.99, for a total of just under $60. It sounded right so I didn't even look at my receipt.

It wasn't until I got home that I looked at the receipt and found out that the food was $41 and the magazine was $10.99. At the time I debated whether to pay even $1.99 for it, but I just... couldn't... resist... (For $1.99 that is. Had I realized it was $10.99 there's no way I would have bought it.)

I still can't believe I somehow paid $10.99 for a magazine with cute puppy pictures.

I was enjoying a light, relaxing dinner after a long day of work today when I was interrupted by a phone call:

Me: Hello?
Woman: Hi, is David Zhang available?
Me: Yes, that's me.
Woman: Good evening David, I'm so-and-so with Bank of America. How are you doing today?
Me: Good. Do you work for Bank of America?
Woman: Yes, I am with Bank of America.
Me: Is Bank of America your employer?
Woman: No, we work with Bank of America but I am actually employed by so-and-so, a telemarking firm.
Me: Well, I would like to decline whatever thing you're about to offer me. Thanks, bye.

How do you get these people to stop? It's like the banks aren't making piles of cash big enough and have to sell customer data to squeeze out a few extra pennies.

The worst part is the fact that they never sell anything useful. It's always something retarded and useless like a $14.99/mo subscription to get my credit score, or some sort of unemployment insurance (which the government already provides...).
