Crap. I just replied to a mailing list. 500 people just got my "I would like to sign up" email. Great.

I went to sleep at around 3 last night as usual. Then at 6:40 or so I turned around in my bed and was about to tell my roommate to turn off his annoying alarm, when he opened the door. Loud noises and bright flashes came through the crack. It took me a little while (a long while) to realize that loud noises + flashing lights on red fixtures labeled "FIRE" = fire alarm. I'm pretty sure we would have died had there been a real fire. By the time we got outside, the entire dorm of at least two hundred was already waiting. Two girls came out a few minutes after us, but that's probably because they were doing their hair and deciding which outfit to wear.

I hate whoever made the fire alarms for this building. The hallways are stone corridors, so annoying sounds just bounce around with nothing to absorb them. It's kind of disorienting, actually, especially right after getting out of bed confused.

It turns out that some moron left a pot on the stove or something like that. In the wee hours of the night right after I had gone to bed.

I went back to sleep for an hour and was three minutes late for Chinese. Besides the very first one, today was the only class that the teacher was on time for. She was ten minutes late to yesterday's class. Of course, today is the only day that I've been late. I hate Murphy.

I am determined to stay awake in linear algebra tomorrow. Why does it have to be so boring?

Wednesday morning started like any other day. I woke up a little late, made it to Chinese on time, and then went to econ lecture 75 minutes later. Econ started just like it does any other day. I stayed awake for half the class, then started falling asleep. Near the end of class, Eric nudged me to wake me up. Econ, by the way, is a huge lecture of 300+ students. Probably 150-200 were there that day. Anyways, I was really sleepy and opened my eyes slowly. I looked around... and the whole lecture hall was staring at me. I seriously did not see a single pair of eyes not pointed at me. I had enormous WTF's popping out of my head. Was I snoring so loudly that everyone went silent to listen to me? That's the only thought that went through my mind at that point.

So it turns out that the professor said something like... "it seems one of our friends has left us" or something and pointed me out. And I didn't hear any of that. Oops. Most embarassing moment of my life.

Rosie bought me a small watermelon a few days ago. I ate some that night and had diarrhea two hours later. I ate some more the next night and had diarrhea two hours later. Well, I guess it's the thought that counts.

By the way, Wikipedia says that Brody Ruckus is fake and the "my girlfriend will have a threesome with me if this group reaches 100,000" was all a marketing ploy for Ruckus Music or something. It got deleted off of Facebook a day or two ago.

One more thing, I didn't write the last two posts (below). I hope you didn't get tricked.

My Chinese class is going surprisingly well besides the fact that I can’t distinguish certain sounds from others. It’s really annoying. For instance, lin and ling sound exactly the same to me. Oh yea, and I’ve always pronounced 因为 as yin(1) wei(2) but…it’s actually yin(1) wei(4). How dumb. Other than that though, it’s been pretty entertaining. The other day in class the teacher was doing this exercise and gave out phrases that we were supposed to respond to. One of the phrases was “她很有钱” (she’s really rich) and after a pause this guy blurts out “可是她很难看” (but she’s really ugly). Haha.

Other than that I wish I was smarter. This guy has got to be the most brilliant guy ever. Everyone should support him just because he is so awesome. If I ever met this guy I would have to bow down to him.

Here’s another ownage article I found: http://www.kolumbus.fi/antti.brax/FUN/SEX.html She totally had that coming.

One final note: linear algebra is gay. Don’t ever take that class.

Ahhh. I ran out of four bags of sunflower seeds in a week! =( This is making me really depressed. I found myself playing frisbee in long pants and standing still... that never happens. See what sunflower seed deprivation does to you? Ahhh.

So yea, other than being depressed, my life is pretty boring. Ok, you know what else is depressing? I had to ask Maylene whether ln 1 = 0. And I forgot the law of cosine. Wtf? I'm ashamed.

Ok, I think I need sleep.

I'm updating for the sake of updating. So at the end of last semester, I signed up for Chinese 35, which is the Chinese class for native speakers who can't read and write (me). They made me take a placement test, so I did. There was a 200-word essay (in Chinese), which I didn't write because I can't even write that many distinct Chinese characters in a non-coherent clump, never mind an essay.

Two days before class started, last Saturday, I get this email telling me to go into Chinese 170, Intro to Classical Chinese. Not only does it sound impossible, it's also all in traditional. I can read about five traditional characters and write maybe two and a half. So that class is completely out of the question.

I told them I'd take Chinese 135, which is the one after 35. I can probably handle that, though it'd be really hard for me. I got denied because it's full. To add to the mess, I got a video iPod for $99 for taking Chinese 35. 135 doesn't get that, so I'd have to return this awesome iPod or pay like an extra $300.

It's all sorted out finally, though. The teacher decided there was no other choice since the higher classes are full, so I have to stay in 35. I have a feeling she hates me and is going to grade my ass off.

The other class that isn't boring as crap is bowling. Hanif, Kevin, and Tiffany are in it (but Hanif is a big pile of lame and wants to drop it). The first day of class the instructor (coach? professor? what?) told us we are going to meet at the bowling alley every class from now on. Find your own ride. Great. And we have to maintain a 120 average to pass. Great.

Yesterday was the first real day, and everybody's just bowling for fun. Two to a lane, and I was with Tiffany. We're both doing pretty badly (only 1 strike up until here), but she's up by a little. I'm thinking, ok, concentrate and maybe this won't be too embarassing. I end up with XX9 in the last frame which practically doubles my score and makes me happy, right? Then she gets XXX. What are the chances of that? There really is a god.
