I CAME HOME AND DISCOVERED ALL MY WATERMELONS GONE!!!! My mom admitted her sin pretty quickly. Anyways, on with today's Zhanga.

We lost to Dorman by 10 points, which was pretty lame. But I didn't really care. I played every match as it came, and had no idea how the tournament was set up or what place we were in or anything (I do think we were tied for first at one point, though). An hour or two after the tournament ended, I overheard someone's phone call and found out that we had finished third. I guess that's not bad at a national tournament. We could have done better, though.

Despite the fact that about 85% of the science questions were biology (in the one round during which I counted, 8 of the 9 science tossups were bio; the other had a wrong answer and screwed me over), I could have done a lot better. I never realized how much faster Coke makes me until today, during the Dorman round. There was a question that went something like, "Name the element which has spectral emission lines of Lyman, Balmer, --"

That's where I buzzed, but Dorman buzzed at the same time and beat me. As he was giving his answer, I was contemplating my speed. How was I so slow? If this had happened during science bowl, I would have buzzed in after the Ly in Lyman. Since Lyman and Balmer are the only real clues (it's pretty hard to get it before the word Lyman), that would make me about four times faster when I'm on Coke. I'm bringing Coke next weekend. I'll try not to kill myself by drinking half a dozen in two hours, but perhaps one or two would give me a little boost.

That one question was worth 10 points, and they got all 20 points of the bonus. In other words, had I gotten that, we would have won by 50. Damnit.

I just tried like 10 games of Solitaire and I couldn't get any of them under 60 seconds. I admit defeat. =(

Remember when I wrote about the $4.75 Super Value Lunch that I could only finish half of? Well, I went back to that place today at about noon.  I bought the $3.99 Combo B with orange chicken. This combo had a drink ($1.00 if sold separately), which the other did not. So I figured I'd probably be able to eat a $3 meal. After half of it, I was full, and I almost finished it. The catch was that I stuffed myself so full that my stomach hurt, and I ate almost nothing for dinner an hour ago.

Why don't we have awesome Chinese places like that near here?
