My mom dragged me out of bed at 9:30 today. How lame is that? I will be so dead tomorrow. But who cares... Tuesday will be deathwork day, and tonight will just be massive datasheeting.

Math tournaments are always good, especially when you have to get up early for them on Saturday mornings. I guess the chance to talk to Marie for a while after so long makes up for that. She told me I won something, which is spectacular because no one (not even Hausdorf, which I can't spell) stayed to listen to awards or collect trophies or anything.

Today was rather uneventful, other than going to the mall, spending way too much money, and then my mom get really mad at me over uselessness.

Gene's forcing me to write stuff but I have nothing nothing nothing to write. Except really useless stuff...

Warning: g33k sp33k follows...

I have decided that Longhorn will be banned (just like Barron's science books) from this house. This is the only new thing I noticed in Control Panel:

Gay Parental Controls

Longhorn looks a lot like XP for Newbies. Some of the new things I noticed make using the computer easier if you are completely clueless, but if you're old-school and liked Windows 3.x, then Longhorn seems absolutely worthless. Also, it ate over 400 MB of RAM on the first boot. Compare to Windows 2000 at about 45 MB and Windows XP at maybe 60 MB.

There is a "Windows File System" service which eats over 90 MB of memory by itself. Interesting how Microsoft has managed to eat memory out of nowhere. This service didn't even exist on 2K/XP.

Warning: more geeky stuff...

I've always liked WinZip, but I decided to give WinRAR a try a few days ago. To my surprise, I found that my 250 MB Zip file became a 96 MB RAR file. Typically the results aren't that good though, and the RAR is usually only about 15% smaller. But that's still a whole lot. The only problem is that RAR compressing/decompressing is a lot slower.

I have WinRAR. It's ok, cus I use neither WinZIP nor WinRAR.
